Besamim Box
A Besamim box is a container that holds special fragrant spices (usually cloves, cinnamon or bay leaves) and is used to represent the redolence of Shabbat, symbolically separating the sacred from the profane. It is used during part of the Judaic Havdalah ceremony observed at the end of the Shabbat.
Besamim boxes are generally shaped as a tower. Many are sterling silver, such as those offered by Rotem Online. Netafim and Aaron Capri are just two of the Israeli artists they carry that have created beautifully intricate Besamim boxes for use during the sacred Havdalah ceremony.
