A Judaism mezuzah is a small
rolled parchment ("scroll") inscribed
by a qualified calligraphist that
is placed within a mezuzah cover. The parchment
is inscribed with Hebrew verses from
the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 11:13-21) .
These verses comprise the Jewish prayer
"Shema Yisrael," and begin with
the phrase "Hear, O Israel, the Lord
your God, the Lord is One"
After a special blessing is recited, the
mezuzah is affixed to the doorpost of Jewish
homes
to fulfill the mitzvah ( Biblical commandment
) to inscribe the words of the Shema "on
the
doorposts of your house."( Deuteronomy
6:9 ). Rotem Online is pleased to offer a
wide selection
of mezuzahs meticulously created by Israeli
artists.
